Biscuits and snacks group United Biscuits has changed the format for its McVitie’s Minis range and McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Grab & Go pack, with the launch of a new 40g pack size. The move, the company said, is designed to grow biscuit sales by filling a niche in the market.

The McVitie’s Mini Cookies, McVitie’s Mini Chocolate Digestives, McVitie’s Mini Chocolate Hob Nobs, McVitie’s Mini Hob Nobs and McVitie’s Mini Blackcurrant Cookies will all be available in the new 40g size. From April, the new formats will be packaged in a 24x40g Counter Display Unit (CDU), which UB said will maximise in-store visibility and impact for both the retailer and shoppers.

UB said its research had revealed that consumers want to buy more impulse sweet snacks but cannot find suitable eat-now products to buy. The company said the new McVitie’s format will therefore fill this gap in the market and drive growth in biscuit sales.
