German retail giant Metro has announced the opening of its first Metro Cash & Carry distribution centre in India and said it plans to open another outlet in November.
The retailer said that with this new outlet in Bangalore, it is now represented in 28 countries and is strategically focusing on Europe and Asia to further enhance its international expansion.
“After three years of careful preparation we are confident that our Cash & Carry concept will prove as successful in the Indian market as it has been in all other countries,” said Dr. Hans-Joachim Koerber, chief executive officer of Metro.
“India today can boast of a fast growing economy with fast rising customer standards. That coupled with the largest business-to-business environment provides a successful business opportunity for Metro Cash & Carry,” he added.
