ConAgra issued a recall of products manufactured at the site dating back to October 2004 after the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention linked a mass outbreak of salmonella poisoning to ConAgra’s peanut butter. According to CDC, it is believed that more than 425 people have fallen ill as a direct consequence of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter consumption.
The lawsuit represents individuals from 26 different states and includes two wrongful death claims.
The plaintiffs have hired Masry & Vititoe and Girardi & Keese to represent them. The group, Masry & Vititoe said, is seeking general damages, special damages and punitive damages.
