Italian dairy group Parmalat has posted a 4.7% increase in net revenues for 2006 to EUR3.85bn (US$4.98bn), with consolidated EBITDA up by 27.4% at EUR354m.

The company said the improvement reflected a positive shift in sales mix, the implementation of measures to increase manufacturing and distribution efficiency and a positive change in foreign exchange rates. Parmalat said that exchange rate fluctuations had boosted revenues by EUR32.31m and EBITDA by EUR1.74m.


On a region-by region basis, consolidated revenues in Italy fell by 2.1% to EUR970m. But EBITDA increased to EUR105m from EUR72m in 2005.


In Canada, sales were up by 3% at EUR1.38bn, with EBITDA increasing to EUR123.33m, from EUR105m in 2005.  In Australia, consolidated revenues rose by 1.5% to EUR416m, with EBITDA slightly down at EUR39m.


Meanwhile in Africa, Parmalat said its consolidated revenues continued to grow, rising by 10% from EUR325m in 2005 to EUR357m 2006. Regional EBITDA rose from EUR39m to EUR40m.
