US fastfood giant McDonald’s has hinted at plans to expand its network in Azerbaijan, where it currently operates just one restaurant, in the capital of Baku. The move could see at least three new restaurants open in the former Soviet country.

Maksud Mirzoyey, manager of the Baku outlet, said the group plans to use Azerbaijan as a springboard into Central Asia. The news came as Azerbaijan was visited by a McDonald’s vice president who then went on to Georgia to visit that country’s four restaurants.
