US natural and organic food company The Hain Celestial Group has announced the launch of Carb Fit, a low-carbohydrate food brand.

The new products, which include cookies, pasta and snacks, are to be co-branded with some of the company’s existing brands, including Hain Pure Snax, DeBoles Pasta and Health Valley. Hain said the Carb Fit products are all natural, kosher and do not contain trans fats.

“We are very conscious of the rising level of obesity in the US, particularly among children,” said Irwin Simon, president and chief executive officer of Hain Celestial.

“Recent research indicates that more than 60% of all consumers purchasing products lower in carbohydrates are doing so as part of a weight reduction program,” he continued, adding that the new line of products was designed to meet this consumer demand.
