The European Commission yesterday (15 January) approved Danish-Swedish dairy group Arla’s acquisition of 30% of Finnish dairy company Ingman Foods.

The EC said that the deal would not impede competition within the European Economic Area because horizontal overlaps between Ingman and Arla’s businesses were limited because they operated in different national markets.


Arla has previously said that it has an option to acquire the remaining 70% of shares. The financial details of the agreement have not been released.
