The antitrust authority in the EU revealed that its decision on German pharmaceutical giant Bayer’s €7.3bn (US$6.4bn) acquisition of Aventis’ agrochemical unit will be delayed by one week.

EU spokesman Michael Tscherny told Dow Jones on Friday: “We aren’t ready yet [to make a decision] and there are ongoing contacts with the companies.”


The decision had been expected tomorrow [Tuesday] but now will arrive on 17 April. The EU authorities must announce its decision by 22 April by law.
