US agribusiness giant Cargill has said it plans to operate its beef, pork and turkey operations under the name of Cargill Meat Solutions by early next year.
The company said that the combined unit would likely be the second-largest US meat company after Tyson Foods and would employ around 33,000 people.
“Bringing the companies together under this one go-to-market strategy enables us to maximise the resources that we have,” Norman Bessac, Cargill’s vice president of retail marketing, told Reuters.
Cargill said its current brand names, such as Honeysuckle White turkey and Excel beef and pork, will continue to be used.
The company has already been using the new name, but it will not become official until January or February 2004, reported Reuters.
