Ireland-based Total Produce has acquired 50% of the assets of soft fruit firm ASF Holland from Frankort & Koning.

The ASF Holland business is expected to have sales in 2009 of around EUR25m (US$32m).

ASF Holland is involved exclusively in the soft fruit business. Total Produce said the acquisition will provide the opportunity to “further expand” the ASF Holland business and will “complement Total Produce’s existing business in this specialist area” which is principally conducted through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Redbridge Holdings.

Last May, Total Produce bought a majority stake in two Dutch salad firms in a deal worth EUR23m.

The company snapped up a 60% stake in Haluco and Nedalpac, two companies that sell tomatoes, capiscums and cucumbers across Europe.
