Spanish food group Sos Cuétara has remained silent on reports that it has reached a deal to sell its oil brand Dante and the other brands of its Minerva Oli unit to Italian oil company Mataluni.

Sos acquired Dante, along with other brands such as Maya and San Giorgio, as part of its EUR630m (US$846m) acquisition of Bertolli from Unilever last summer.


“Sos has previously said that it intends to dispose of the non-core businesses. This includes certain units acquired as part of the Bertolli deal with Unilever,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed.


Under the planned disposals, Sos sold off its Cuétara biscuit division, which was acquired Nutrexpa by EUR197.7m.


However, the spokesperson declined to comment on the specifics of any sale negotiations. “Such information is confidential at this time,” the spokesperson said.
