The appointment will come into effect in September after Erez Vigodman steps down after eight years as Strauss CEO.

Following the announcement, the company revealed today (1 April) that deputy Avi Ben Assayag had resigned. Local media had reported that he was the front-runner for the job.

Chairperson Ofra Strauss said the company chose from “a number of excellent candidates” from within the business.

“Each of them is worthy and possesses the required competences to manage the group,” Strauss said. “Clearly, only one could be chosen and it was a tough decision.”

Vigodman said Assayag had played a “major part” in the company’s achievements. “Avi was a worthy and able candidate who possessed all the competencies required to manage the group,” he said.

“However, it was natural that only one candidate could be chosen for the job, and I certainly understand Avi’s request to turn to a new career path.”
