Leading independent third party inspection and certification specialist EFSIS is the first company accredited by UKAS to EN45011, and is now able to certify suppliers against EUREGAP’s Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Standard.
The EUREGAP standard, which was established by German company EHI in a bid to raise standards in the production of fresh fruit and vegetables, is internationally recognised and EFSIS hope that the ability to certify suppliers will boost sales and company reputations.
Rob Gready, EFSIS Certification managing director, explained in a press release: “We are now in an excellent position to offer both existing and new customers certification against the Standard, giving them the opportunity to demonstrate best practice to the rest of the supply chain.”
“The introduction of rigorous standards throughout Europe will ensure a level playing field in terms of food safety and quality for everyone,” he added.
The first company to be accredited by EFSIS is UK-based firm Emmett, which supplies the major multiples. Colin Bailey, Emmett MD, commented: “An essential part of our commitment to quality for our customers and the end consumer is embracing the EUREGAP standard.
