Danisco has concluded an agreement with DDG-Holding in Vejle, Denmark, for the takeover of Danisco Foods´ business in Tårs, Northern Jutland. The product portfolio of this business includes marmalade, fruit-based desserts, fruit sauces as well as plant-based cream marketed under the brand names of Skælskør Frugtplantage™ and Vendelbo. The sale price, which is satisfactory to both Danisco and DDG-Holding, will not be disclosed.

The new owner will let Scandic Food A/S in Vejle, Denmark, take over the activity of continuing and developing the well-known brands in Denmark as well as in the export markets. Scandic Food is already a major supplier of marmalade and fruit-based products.

The business in Tårs employs 82 people.

The takeover will take effect as of 1 November 2001.

The sale underpins Danisco´s business strategy of focusing on development and production of food ingredients, sweeteners and sugar. Danisco aims to expand its position as the world´s leading supplier of ingredients to the food industry. Danisco´s divestment programme was announced in 1999 and has almost been completed now.
