Campbell Soup Co. today (12 February) announced the appointment of Peter Foyston as general manager of its operations in Greater China.


Foyston will be responsible for building Campbell’s business in the region and will oversee operations in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.


He will be based in the company’s Greater China headquarters in Shanghai and report to Chris Delaney, Campbell’s president, emerging markets.


Campbell has indicated its intention to expand in China, the world’s largest soup market by consumption. The company launched its Swanson broth brand on Guangdong province in October 2007 and expanded it into the Shanghai market in November last year.


Foyston comes to Campbell from Chiquita, where he was VP and general manager for Asia. Prior to that Foyston spend 15 years with Procter & Gamble in China.
