The move follows a tainted food scandal involving Chinese-made gyoza dumplings imported and sold by JT Foods.
JT’s frozen food sales dropped by around JPY20bn (US$222.2m) after food poisoning incidents in January 2008.
It will be the first time that a leading frozen food brand in Japan is scrapped as a result of a food safety scandal.
The Katokichi brand managed to distance itself from the scandals and consequently escaped the public’s censure.
