Alimpex, the Czech distributor of milk products, has announced a move to start producing meat products.

Alimpex aims to control a 30% to 40% share of the Czech pate market by the end of next year, and a few weeks ago, the company rented some facilities from the bankrupt meat processor Masokombinat Klatovy (MK) with a view to producing own brand pate.

According to Alimpex’s director Milan Kincl, the company is now set to launch production of a range of smoked foods and small goods.

Alimpex’s financial results for this year are expected to include a turnover of 3.5bn Czech crowns (US$92.9m), an increase on the 2.2bn crowns turnover posted for 2000.
