Sales from Cranswick’s food division, which accounts for 93% of group turnover, climbed 6%, thanks to “notable increases” from continental products, pork, sausages and sandwiches.

Sales of continental products rose 15%, while pork sales increased 14. Sausage and sandwich sales rose by 7% and 6% respectively.

The company said the performance was “in line with management’s expectations” despite “significant currency fluctuations and weakening economic activity”.
