Campbell Soup Co. has elected Paul Charron to succeed Harvey Golub as chairman of the board with effect from August.

Charron, 66, has been a director of Campbell since 2003. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Liz Claiborne from 1996 until his retirement in 2006, and held positions at Procter & Gamble and General Foods earlier in his career.


He is currently a senior advisor at Warburg Pincus, a private equity firm, and a managing partner of Fidus Investment Partners.


Golub, who joined the Campbell board in 1996, said: “Paul Charron is an outstanding business leader who has made valuable contributions to our board during the past six years. His strategic insight, international perspective and consumer focus are important assets for the board, the company and the shareowners.”
