The Plan A Way to Save campaign marks the second anniversary of the retailer’s ‘eco-pan’ and is designed to save family households up to GBP1,000 (US$1,455) a year.

The campaign will launch with online marketing, in store décor and extend as far as wash labels in clothing and provides tips on cutting food waste and lowering energy bills with the reward of incentive vouchers.

Chairman Sir Stuart Rose said the plan is designed to make it easy for customers to “make a few simple changes” in their homes.

“Becoming ‘greener’ needn’t be difficult, expensive, or time-consuming and in fact our green advice could save family households a thousand pounds,” he added.

M&S worked with the Energy Saving Trust and WRAP to create the plan, which follows on from the retailer’s previous campaign to encourage its customers to wash their clothes at 30 degrees.

Philip Sellwood, CEO of the Energy Saving Trust, added: “I urge householders to make the Plan A Way to Save their commitment for 2009. Marks & Spencer’s useful collection of tips demonstrate how easy it is to make big savings without having to drastically change your lifestyle.”
