European frozen food manufacturer Ardo has said that it will close its manufacturing facility in Mochov, in the Czech Republic, and transfer production to its recently-acquired Austrian Austria Frost business.
Ardo will continue to operate a sales branch in the Czech Republic and six other central and eastern European countries – Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia and Slovenia.
“This move will create synergies in production but also packaging,” Heidi Goovaerts, spokeswoman for the Belgian-based company, told just-food.
Goovaerts declined to reveal how much the move would generate in savings.
Disagreements between the company and local and regional governments also influenced the company’s decision to cease production in the country, Ardo’s marketing manager for central and eastern Europe Lukás Moravec told just-food.
