Carrefour Argentina President Eric Legros was quoted in Argentine daily La Nacion yesterday [Wednesday] as commenting to reporters: “Why bother opening more shops in Argentina if they then attack our distribution centres?”.
A company spokeswoman said that Carrefour was “looking at investments in the context of the lack of judicial security,” reported Dow Jones.
The comments come in the wake of a protracted dispute over which labour association about 450 new workers would join. Carrefour was keen that the new employees sign up to the Commercial Workers Association, but truckers’ union leader Hugo Moyano said they should join his group.
The labour ministry eventually decreed that the staff should become members of Moyano’s group.
