Nestle is withdrawing its branded Farinha Lactea cereal in the US because it may contain trace amounts of a pesticide not currently approved for use on wheat in the market.
The company emphasised that the pesticide is approved for use in Brazil and the levels detected are well below Brazilian standards. The pesticide is also permitted for use in the US on grain crops. However, it has not been approved for use on wheat in the US.
Nestle Farinha Lactea cereal is manufactured in Brazil by Nestle Brazil and sold primarily in Portuguese language communities in the US.
