Located in the Edmonton Green shopping centre, the 5,920 square foot store is a first for Lidl Schwartz, which operates the larger format discount chain throughout Europe.
The Lidl Express has been open a month and is about half the size of a regular Lidl outlet. While the product range is limited by space the offering is much the same as at the company’s larger stores, a spokesperson for Lidl told just-food.
The scaled-back product range at Lidl Express will also be sold for the same price as at the discount stores, the retailer revealed.
There are currently no plans for a wider rollout.
