The recall was issued yesterday (21 August) by the Food Standards Agency, which said that some Co-op Fairtrade Chocolate Brownies had been packed in Five Butter Flapjack Squares packaging.


The chocolate brownies contain egg, soya and wheat, which are not mentioned on the flapjack packaging, posing a possible health risk to consumers with allergies to the said ingredients.


The product being withdrawn has a best-before date of 30 August 2008 and the Co-op has issued point-of-sale notices in stores why the product has been withdrawn.


No other Co-op products are known to be affected.
