Hormel Foods’ Mexican food venture MegaMex Foods has snapped up taco and burrito maker Don Miguel Foods.

MegaMex said yesterday (6 September) that it had bought Don Miguel from private-equity fund TSG4 and private investors for an undisclosed sum.

“Growth through the strategic acquisition of Don Miguel Foods is an important step toward making us stronger for the future,” said MegaMex chairman Enrique Hernández-Pons Torres.

Don Miguel makes Mexican-flavoured appetizers, snacks and handheld items. The portfolio includes mini tacos, taquitos, empanadas, burritos and roller grill items.

MegaMex was set up by Hormel and Mexican food group Herdez Del Fuerte last year to sell Mexican foods in the US.
