Unilever is to sell Komili, the leading olive oil brand in Turkey, to local food group Ana Gida for an undisclosed sum.
Komili generated sales of around EUR26m (US$40.8m) last year and is the top-selling olive oil brand in Turkey.
The buyer, Ana Gida, produces a range of edible oils and is part of Turkish conglomerate Anadolu Group, which has interests in sectors from beverages to banking.
Unilever said the decision to sell Komili is part of its plans to offload a raft of “non-strategic brands” generating turnover of over EUR2bn.
In recent months, Unilever has sold cheese brand Boursin to French cheese maker Fromageries Bel and the Lawry’s seasonings business in the US to McCormick & Co.
