Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin said that the NAVABHOJAN dried mango pulp contains sulfites not listed on the label and is being voluntarily recalled by the importer.
Maspeth, New York-based Peekay Int is recalling 7.1-ounce packages of the dehydrated pulp following routine sampling by New York State Agriculture and Markets Food inspectors. The analysis indicated that NAVABHOJAN dehydrated Mango Pulp contained 12.1 mg per serving of sulfites. The plastic bags bear the code Best Before SEPT 2002.
“Our food safety inspectors are checking to make sure this product has been removed from sale as part of their routine inspections,” said Commissioner Irvin.
“The law requires that all ingredients be listed on the product label. This lets the public know exactly what they are eating and protects individuals who may have allergic reactions or have other health concerns relating to a particular ingredient.”
