If a dental researcher working in Lincoln is correct, candy could one day be good for our teeth.

Max Anderson has revealed that he has identified four herbs which, when used together, form a potent mixture that kills the bacteria that cause cavities and gum disease. This mixture, he believes, could be put in any food, even chocolate.

Anderson, who is working with a UCLA researcher on the find, told the Associated Press: “We’ll see a huge decrease in the number of cavities in the treated population.”

He has not revealed the names of the four herbs because the patents have yet to be approved, but the compound could be available within one or two years.
