Sligro is set to acquire Sanver, the parent company of Sanders Supermarkten and a meat processing business in the Netherlands.
It currently operates some 22 full-service supermarkets. The debt-free purchase price of the company is almost EUR50m (US$62.97m) and will be funded from existing credit facilities.
Sligro Food Group will convert most of the Sanders Supermarkten outlets into Emté supermarkets, while retaining their unique meat concepts. A relatively large number of Sanders Supermarkten will be relocated and expanded in the next few years. A few small stores will be sold and distribution will be relocated to the retail distribution centre in Putten. The company’s existing logistics will be converted to Sligro Bezorg Service.
The relocation and expansion of activities mean that the acquisition will not have an adverse effect on employment in the Twente region.
