Sainsbury’s has recalled some if its own-brand Chocolate and Toffee Crisp Bites because they might be contaminated with glass.
The Food Standards Agency issued the alert as a precautionary measure.
The Sainsbury’s 18 Chocolate and Toffee Crisp Bites (250g), sold from the in-store bakery, have a best before of 22 June 2008.
“The contamination was from a small piece of machinery that makes the caramel dropping into one of the bars. We took precautionary measure and so far have had no products returned or any customer complaints,” a spokesperson for Sainsbury’s said.
Point-of-sale notices are displayed in Sainsbury’s stores explaining why the product has been recalled.
