UK retailer Sainsbury’s has made a number of changes to its plc and operating boards.
The moves, announced today (21 June), are designed to “support and drive” the company’s long-term growth strategy and strengthen its leadership team, the retailer said.
Trading director Mike Coupe will become Sainsbury’s group commercial director on the plc board, assuming responsibility for marketing in addition to his responsibilities for trading, IT and online.
CFO Darren Shapland will become group development director on the plc board. This new role includes responsibility for new business development as well as convenience, Sainsbury’s bank, property and group strategy.
John Rogers, property director on the retailer’s operating board, will replace Shapland as CFO.
In addition, Helen Buck, business unit director for grocery, has been appointed to the operating board as convenience director.
