Marshall will replace Lord Saatchi, who will step down from the role next Wednesday.

Finsbury said Marshall’s promotion would provide a “seamless succession” at a company that is now “a major player in the UK cake, bread and gluten-free markets”.

Finsbury makes a range of cake and morning goods for the UK’s largest retailers. The company is also building its gluten-free bread portfolio and earlier this month bought bread maker Yorkshire Farm Bakery and gluten-free mixes firm A&P Foods for a combined GBP8.9m (US$17.7m).
