Lactalis has entered Romania with the acquistion of local dairy firm LaDorna.

The deal will bolster the French dairy giant’s position in south-eastern Europe. The company already operates in Serbia, Moldova and Ukraine.

LaDorna, which produces liquid milk, fresh dairy products and cheeses, also has a distribution network in Greece.

“LaDorna is one of the major dairy companies in Romania”, a spokesperson for Lactalis told just-food.

According to figures released by Lactalis, LaDorna collects around 35m litres of milk annually and posted a turnover of EUR40m (US$63.6m) last year.
