“We have identified these categories as offering substantial potential for growth, with concerns about health and diet prevalent,” a spokesperson for the company told just-food this afternoon (22 April).

“We are interested in growing our sales domestically and internationally,” the spokesperson added.

Osem owns 58% of meat-substitute manufacturer Tivall Foods. According to the group’s 2007 annual report, Tivall controls 70% of the meat-free market in Italy and is the market leader in the Netherlands and Sweden.

According to media reports, the food company may also enter the kosher infant-formula market in the US, UK and France after agreeing to buy Israeli baby-formula maker Materna Laboratories in October.
