Tesco, the UK retail giant, has signed a new pay deal with its workers in Poland.

The agreement comes after workers at a store in Tychy held a one-day strike over pay last month.
The average Tesco Polska worker will see their annual salary rise by 30%. In addition, employees with over two years’ experience would obtain one-off bonuses of PLN200-500 (US$88.5 – $221). In total, the pay deal it will cost Tesco PLN63m.
The agreement was reported not to have been accepted by another trade union, Sierpien 80.
A spokesperson for Tesco Polska told just-food: “There were a number of unions representing some of the other Tesco stores but we chose to meet with NSZZ Solidarnosc because they represented 80% of the staff. However, we will still be liaising with the other unions.”
