Over 400 jobs are to be axed at Tyson Foods after the US company decided to close one of its facilities in North Carolina.

Falling demand for oven-roasted chicken has led to the decision, Tyson said.
“Despite exhaustive efforts to continue this success, we’ve made the difficult decision to stop production and devote our resources to other products designed to help us stay ahead of where today’s consumer is going,” said Donnie Smith, group vice president of consumer products.
Production is due to stop at the Wilkesboro plant on 1 April.
