Unilever UK is targeting the GBP1.4bn (US$2.7bn) chilled ready meals market with the launch of nine products under brands Colman’s, Knorr and Bertolli.

The products, including lasagne, beef casserole and chicken tikka masala, will be available this month and will be targeted towards convenience and high street markets.
Unilever is working with Ireland-based food group Greencore in manufacturing and distribution for the range.
Charlotte Brown, customer development project leader at Unilever, said: “This is the first time these brands have been expanded into the chilled ready meals category in the UK.”
“We are targeting the gap for quality branded ready meal solutions within the convenience sector and are confident that the union with Greencore will help us to drive growth and enhance the chilled ready meal presence in the convenience channel.”
