PepsiCo has reformulated a number of its Quaker products sold in Canada in a bid to offer a “healthier” version of its snacks.

Changes announced today (6 April) include all Quaker rice-based snacking products now being made with whole grain brown rice and featuring the Whole Grains Council (WGC) stamp on the majority of Crispy Minis product packaging.

The Crispy Minis brand will now refer to all Quaker rice-based snacks, the firm said. The term was previously used to only describe Rice Chips and Bite-Size Rice Chips. The portfolio now includes Rice Cakes and Delights Cookies, which have been re-launched with new packaging and the addition of a Sweet Chili flavour.

“Quaker has been a health and wellness leader for more than one hundred and thirty years,” said Kathryn Matheson, vice president of marketing – Quaker, PepsiCo Canada. “These exciting changes celebrate the Quaker brand’s history of simple good food, and at the same time, speak to what Canadians want to eat now.”

Quaker said it is also adding more “convenience” to its breakfast options with the introduction of 100% Whole Grain Oatmeal packets.

The firm’s Quaker Granola Bars and Oatmeal Bars will also include new Fibre and Omega-3 granola variants, made with whole grain oats, five grams of fibre and 300 mg of Omega-3 per bar, in Dark Chocolate Chunk and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip flavours.
