Chinese authorities have reportedly pulled more milk products found to contain melamine, the industrial chemical involved in 2008’s food scare that resulted in the hospitalisation of nearly 300,000 infants.

According to state newspaper China Daily, the health department of Guizhou province has suspended sales from three Chinese dairy producers and pulled three batches of products from shelves.
The fresh melamine headlines follow the news earlier this month of the closure of a dairy company in Shanghai was closed and the arrest of three of its top officials by police. Shanghai Panda Dairy Co.’s condensed and powdered milk products were found to contain excessive amounts of melamine.
Nearly 300,000 children fell ill and at least six died in the 2008 scare after drinking milk containing melamine, which had been used to artificially boost the protein content of milk.
China executed two people in November for their role in the 2008 scare.
