Bharti Wal-Mart, the Indian joint venture between US retail giant Wal-Mart and Bharti Enterprises, is reportedly facing opposition to registering its flagship brand in the country.

Applications by Bharti-Walmart to register its ‘Great Value’ brand is facing opposition, the Mint Journal reported.

It is understood the joint venture had filed around 12 applications to trademark the logo in 2008, but the majority of those have been opposed.

Under Indian laws, it takes around two years to process an application before they are put in the public domain, following which four months are given to make any opposition to the same.
