The company saw sales rise to EUR7.32bn (US$10.53bn) during the fiscal year, with fourth-quarter sales jumping 7%.
In its preliminary sales report, Jeronimo Martins said that the performance reflected like-for-like gains in Portugal and its strong showing in the Polish market, where it operates the Biedronka chain.
While Polish sales increased 6% during the 12-month period, gains were dented by the depreciation of the zloty against the euro. On a constant-currency basis, sales would have jumped 30%.
The company opened 163 Biedronka stores during the period, bringing up the total number of stores to 1,466 at year-end.
