A spokesperson for the company told just-food that the facility was “at the heart” of its Kit Kat production in the UK, producing 250,000 sheets of wafer, which are then filled with chocolate and moulded into Kit Kats.

“We take the quality of our wafer very seriously and this is one of the biggest drivers behind a GBP15m investment we will be making at our facilities over the next three years. These facilities will enable us to deliver world class manufacturing from both a quality and cost competitive point of view,” the spokesperson said.

Through the investment, Nestle also expects to reduce carbon emissions by 60% and cut gas consumption by 30%, the spokesperson added.

“The investment will drive waste down and help us reach our ultimate goal of zero waste,” the spokesperson revealed.
