Private-equity firm CVC Capital Partners has remained tight-lipped about reports it is considering selling Dutch retail group C1000.

Sources told news agency Bloomberg that CVC is considering selling the chain, which is the second-largest in the Netherlands. The sale of C1000, which runs 400 stores, could raise as much as EUR1bn (US$1.3bn), reports have said

However, a spokesperson for CVC, refused to comment when contacted by just-food.

Ahold, the largest retailer in the Netherlands, sold its stake in C1000 – then known by its parent company’s name Schuitema – to CVC in 2008 in a deal worth for EUR185m. The deal saw Ahold acquire 58 stores, a batch of real estate and a 20% indirect stake in Schuitema.
