The partnership between BSM and Intentia Philippines (itself a strategic partnership between Intentia International and Systems Standards (SSI), an IT solutions provider in the Philippines) started in February 2001.
The Movex Collaboration solution is an end-to-end fully integrated enterprise solution, which helps businesses control inventory costs and track the costs of maintaining and repairing plant machinery and equipment. Such information is captured for analysis and future planning purposes.
Democrat Opus, the general manager of BSM, explained: “We cannot afford not to prepare for eventualities in our production line. Any unplanned breakdowns could result in thousands of tons in wasted sugar canes. To avoid this, we must be able to forecast any downtime in our production lines. We need to be able to track maintenance and repair costs for each of our equipment.
“Maintenance is certainly a crucial aspect to us and we have to reduce our downtime to a minimum and improve our service to our farmers. Our services need to be more exacting and precise.”

By GlobalDataBSM’s VP, corporate planning, Jeanne Krebs, added that the company was attracted to Intentia’s plant maintenance solution because of its ability to integrate the areas of finance and plant maintenance.
With the solution in place, BSM anticipates savings in the form of lower inventory costs, and tighter financial and cost controls.
