The 27,000 sq ft store is scheduled to open next autumn and Whole Foods said it was the fourth new UK store to be announced in recent months.

In November, Whole Foods revealed plans to open stores in Glasgow and in Richmond in west London. The retailer also plans to open another store in London on Fulham Broadway in two years.

Jeff Turnas, Whole Foods’ UK regional president, said the Cheltenham outlet would be the retailer’s seventh in the country and its first English store outside London.

“It will help us increase awareness of what we can offer shoppers in the arena of natural foods and it will also enable us to show off the best in British foods, our unique animal welfare rated meats and sustainably ranked seafood, while focusing on reviving traditional skills such as butchery and fishmongery in store,” Turnas said.
