Tesco’s US venture Fresh & Easy has announced plans to extend its range of Gourmet convenience meals.

The retailer said yesterday (21 July) that it will launch 12 items this week, including four new “Gourmet for Two ” meals that will give customers a “restaurant quality meal for two for under US$10”.

Other items include five fresh prepared meals retailing for under $7 and three fresh pizzas that will sell for under $8. The pizzas, which serve four, are 12″ by 16″ and are made with hand-stretched dough and topped with premium ingredients.

“Customers love our Gourmet products, so we expanded the range with some truly unique and exciting meals only available at Fresh & Easy,” said John Burry, the company’s chief commercial officer. “We are happy to continue to bring more restaurant-quality, fresh food options for our customers to eat at home, as more and more people look for ways to save money.”

New products in the gourmet fresh prepared meals range include bourbon BBQ beef, Hawaiian pork, prosciutto chicken, chicken Catalan and vegetable lasagne bianca. It has added Thai green curry, panang beef, tequila mango shrimp and Cajun style chicken to its Gourmet for Two range and Cajun style chicken. Additions to the pizza range include prosciutto, Mediterranean and rosemary, ham and mushroom varieties.
