US group ConAgra Foods has confirmed plans to close its Little Rock manufacturing facility in Arkansas late next spring.

“The decision to transition the operations is based on the company’s interest in making the same high-quality food that Odom’s Tennessee Pride is known for with the most competitive cost structure possible,” ConAgra said.

ConAgra gained ownership of the Little Rock facility when it acquired Odom’s Tennessee Pride in May 2012.

The move will affect around 240 jobs, a spokesperson told just-food. However, the company did not disclose whether it would be offering any alternative employment to the Little Rock plant’s workforce.

Production will be transferred to ConAgra’s Abbyland Foods facility in Wisconsin.

Last month, the company invested US$100m investment in expanding production at its Russellville manufacturing facility in Arkansas to support the growth of its Bertolli and PF Chang’s brands.
