However, a spokesperson for Wal-Mart said yesterday (20 June) that Noda had quit the role “for personal reasons”.

Steve Dacus, the COO of Wal-Mart’s Japanese unit, has been promoted to replace Noda. Wal-Mart did not disclose who would replace Dacus as COO.

Yesterday, Wal-Mart confirmed that a third executive had left its operations in China. Shawn Gray, the vice president of Wal-Mart’s hypermarkets in China, followed local CFO Roland Lawrence and COO Rob Cissell in leaving the company.
