Kerry Group has announced plans to establish a EUR100m (US$129.4m) global R&D centre in Ireland.

The technology and innovation centre, located in Co Kildare, will serve the group’s global and region customers in the EMEA region, it said today (9 October).

It will also provide customers with access to Kerry’s technologies, scientific research, innovation and applications expertise across food, beverage and pharmaceutical markets.

Around 900 jobs as well as 400 immediate construction jobs will be created as a result of the investment part-funded by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation through Enterprise Ireland.

“The establishment of this new global technology and innovation centre is consistent with the Group’s 1 Kerry Strategy for Sustainable Growth, providing our customers with access to Kerry’s total technical and innovation capability to optimise product differentiation in the marketplace and provide unrivalled speed to market,” said Kerry Group chief executive Stan McCarthy.

“Working in tandem with the group’s existing technology and innovation facilities, the new centre will focus group-wide capability to drive strategic customer engagement and sustainable growth,” he added.
